Types of Oral Appliances

Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD): The most common type — holds the lower jaw slightly forward to prevent airway collapse. Tongue Retaining Device (TRD): Holds the tongue in a forward position. We will recommend the best type based on your anatomy, sleep study results, and personal preference.

Oral Appliance vs. CPAP

CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) is the gold standard for severe sleep apnea. However, many patients find CPAP uncomfortable or difficult to use consistently. Oral appliances are an excellent alternative for mild to moderate OSA — they are comfortable, quiet, portable, and do not require electricity or a mask.
