How We Prevent and Treat Gum Disease

Prevention starts with regular professional cleanings every 6 months to remove the bacteria-laden plaque and tartar that cause gum disease. We also perform periodontal probing at every exam to measure gum pocket depths and detect early disease. If we find gum disease, we offer scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) and periodontal maintenance.

Risk Factors for Gum Disease

Smoking, diabetes, certain medications, hormonal changes, and genetics all increase your risk of gum disease. We take these factors into account when developing your personalized prevention plan.
